Interswitch has commenced the sixth edition of its TechConnect industry engagement programme, bringing together stakeholders to examine how Nigeria’s financial and digital infrastructure can become more flexible, secure and responsive to changing market demands.

The initiative, themed “Built for What’s Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market,”kicked off in Owerri, Imo State, on September 24, 2026. The programme is designed to create conversations among players in government, financial services, technology and business about the future of Nigeria’s digital economy.

The TechConnect 6.0 roadshow will also visit Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos in October.

According to Interswitch, the changing expectations of consumers and businesses require infrastructure that can scale, connect different systems and remain reliable as new technologies and services emerge.

Tyoyila Aga, Vice President of Business Innovation and Growth at Interswitch, stressed that organisations should build systems with future changes in mind rather than simply responding to current technological trends.

He noted that financial infrastructure needs to be scalable, interoperable, secure and resilient enough to accommodate evolving business models and customer demands.

Focus on digital transformation

The Owerri edition featured discussions on the role of technology in improving institutional performance and expanding participation in the digital economy.

Justice Remigius Okoye, Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service, delivered the keynote address, focusing on how adaptable financial infrastructure can strengthen government institutions and improve service delivery.

A major panel session also examined public-private partnerships as a tool for accelerating digital transformation.

Participants discussed issues including interoperability, cybersecurity, data protection, system resilience and the need for stronger cooperation between government agencies, financial institutions and technology companies.

The programme also featured conversations around the roles of government, businesses and skilled professionals in developing a more connected digital economy, alongside demonstrations of Interswitch’s payment and digital commerce solutions.

Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos next

Following the Owerri engagement, TechConnect 6.0 is scheduled to continue in Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos.

Interswitch’s official event page currently lists Abuja for October 13, Ibadan for October 22, and Lagos for October 27, 2026.

Through the four-city programme, Interswitch is seeking to deepen industry conversations around the infrastructure needed to support increasingly digital economic activity.

The company said the broader objective is to encourage systems that can remain connected, secure and adaptable as technology, regulations, customer expectations and business models continue to evolve.
